Instituted: 11 April 1956, for courage while facing the enemy. It could be awarded with palm leaf, gold star, silver star or bronze star depending on the level of citation. It was established to reward soldiers, sailors, and airmen serving in Algeria who had committed acts of valour or gallantry in combat. Algeria was a department of France at the time, so it was not considered a declared war but peacekeeping operations on French soil. |
Description: | Suspended from a ribbon is a 36 mm bronze cross, with an effigy of the Republic crowned with a wreath, with the edge embossed: "REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE". On the reverse is the inscription: "Croix de la Valeur militaire". |

Very Good condition the condecoration, minor marks according with it age. On the back of the decoration you can see a small piece of paper stuck on the ribbon that has written the type of decoration it is. The ribbon is in very good conditions. |
